The text reflects on how the figure of the poet Gabriela Mistral was presented and "served" by history and official education: sweet, maternal, and desexualized, like a "great-aunt of America," without ever mentioning her lesbian orientation or the letters full of desire that she wrote to other women. These texts only came to light very late and were heavily suppressed by an epistemological censorship of Gabriela Mistral.
