This article analyzes the construction of the concept of matria in the work of Gabriela Mistral, particularly her contributions to the magazine En Viaje between 1936 and 1958. In contrast to the partial approaches – psychoanalytic, geographical, literary – that have studied her work, an integrative reading is proposed that articulates the geographical, the affective, the communal and the political from a feminist perspective.
