This essay examines the narrative project of Chilean author Pedro Lemebel which
foreground non-normative genders and sexualities. It argues that his narrative
can be read not only as a work about personal identity, but also as constitutive
of the horizon of an alternative political language. Specifically this essay focuses
on the way in which Lemebel’s narrative employs transvestism as a narrative
technique to deviate the discourse of the Left.
