Abstract

During the 2011-2012 a sociological research was conducted about the problem of abortion in Chile, which sought to analyze the changes in the discourses of women of different generations who resorted to the practice. This paper presents and deepens around a dimension that emerges from the results: the establishment of the competent moral subject. Through its conceptualization it is possible to account for the difficulties that supposed to women the exercise of their moral autonomy, deciding the termination of a pregnancy on their own criteria, in an evaluative and ambivalent process, overcoming the barriers imposed by lawful and putting in question the androcentric social order that places them as unable to decide.
