Abstract

This paper tackles the femicide problem as the most extreme form of sexist terrorism. It genealogises the concept since its inauguration in 1974 and points out the debates on this matter. Based on some results of the research "Análisis de la mortalidad femenina por causas externas y su relación con la violencia contra las mujeres", the article offers an updated situation sight about femicide problem in Argentine which enables a visualization of its weight and gravity in the wider range of gender's inequalities. In this concern, this work particularly visualizes de suicide-homicide tension in connection with the lack of clearness the statistics presents when they name this two types of women violent deaths; the modification of suicide-homicide statistic ratio when it comes to women death and the fact that the two most frequent women suicide modes do not match with the suicide modes found in official registered data. From this point, the text questions about the possibility of different ways of covering up femicides. It would be a particular connection between patriarchy ferociousness and State abandonment. From this perspective, including femicide problem in Human Rights field is considered as a need.
